As part of New Jersey’s commitment to clean energy, the Charge Up New Jersey program offers incentives to residents who choose to go electric with their vehicle purchases or leases

Charge Up+ Incentive:

For qualifying low- to moderate-income households, the program offers a Charge Up+ incentive, which can provide up to an additional $4,000 to make electric vehicles more accessible. Income verification and other criteria must be met for eligibility.

$2,000 Incentive for EV Purchases:

Eligible New Jersey residents can receive up to $2,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle. This incentive applies when buying or leasing from a participating dealership and aims to support the state’s goals of reducing emissions and promoting greener transport alternatives.

Home Charger Rebate

To complement your new electric vehicle, the state encourages the installation of approved home EV chargers by offering a $250 rebate. This incentive supports a more convenient charging infrastructure, allowing you to power up your EV at home with ease.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for these incentives, applicants must:

  • Be New Jersey residents at the time of the vehicle transaction.

  • Purchase or lease from participating dealerships that are part of the Charge Up New Jersey program.

  • Keep the vehicle for at least 36 months.

In addition, you may be required to submit documentation to verify your income for the Charge Up+ program or to qualify for the home charger rebate.

Currently, numerous dealerships in Bergen County participate in this program, allowing residents to easily access these incentives without having to apply separately—the rebates are applied during the purchase process. These incentives are part of New Jersey’s broader goal to electrify the transportation sector and reduce environmental impacts.
